Leaf Pickup Information

Leaf Pickup

We generally try to start leaf pick up near the first of November.  Leaf pick up for the entire city usually takes about three months to complete, however due to unforeseen circumstances it could take a little longer. We will continue until we’ve finished the entire City. We alternate starting points between the North end and the South end, depending where we started the previous year.

How do I know when to get my leaves ready?

Information about when we will start, where we will start, as well as what area we will be in each week will be published on our website. In addition, the information is provided to all local media outlets and will be printed on the front page of the Tribune Star and announced on the local evening news the day before. However, keep in mind that schedules may change due to weather, emergencies, etc.

Where do I put the leaves that are ready to be picked up?

Leaves should be raked to the tree row for pick up but NOT into the street. Leaves that are raked into the street will wash into the inlets and that can cause problems for the Waste Water Treatment Plant. We will not go into a homeowner’s yard to pick up leaves. We will pick up ONLY leaves – please do not rake limbs or other debris in with the leaves as it will be left behind. If there is too much debris present, the site could be skipped altogether.

What if I miss the leaf pickup day in my neighborhood?

Due to scheduling and manpower we are only able to make one complete pass through the City, and unfortunately we cannot backtrack. However, if you’ve missed the leaf pickup in your area, or would rather not wait for us to get to your area, your leaves can be bagged and put out with your garbage. Republic will pick them up on their regular route.
